When COVID-19 forced school closures, Kenya's education system faced an unprecedented challenge. With millions of students suddenly learning from home, the need for digital learning infrastructure became urgent. But any solution had to work in the reality of Kenyan households: many students lack reliable internet, share devices with family members, and have parents who can't provide learning support.
We partnered with the Ministry of Education to develop and deploy a national adaptive learning platform that works offline, personalizes content to each student's level, and provides progress visibility to teachers and parents.
COVID-19 school closures exposed the need for digital learning infrastructure that works in low-resource environments.
Millions of students suddenly learning from home
Only 30% of households have reliable internet access
Many students share devices with multiple family members
Teachers had no way to track student progress remotely
Existing content not aligned with Kenya's CBC curriculum
Large class sizes made personalized attention impossible
Adaptive learning platform with offline capabilities, CBC-aligned content, and comprehensive teacher/parent tools.
AI-powered system personalizing content and pace to each student's level.
Full functionality without internet, syncing when connected.
Complete curriculum coverage aligned with Kenya's Competency-Based Curriculum.
Real-time visibility into student progress and struggling areas.
Simple interface for parents to track their child's learning.
Compressed content delivery for minimal data usage.
Our phased approach ensured successful delivery and adoption.
Built MVP in 6 weeks to address immediate crisis needs.
Worked with teachers to create CBC-aligned content library.
