Parcel dispatch and tracking system for 2NK Sacco's nationwide bus parcel service. In continuous production since 2015. Handles the full parcel lifecycle, per-station M-Pesa collection, rider operations, and back-office reconciliation.
The story
2NK is one of Kenya's largest matatu saccos, running a parcel logistics arm alongside the passenger transport business. We started with them in 2015 to digitise a station-to-station handover that was running on paper waybills and phone calls.
Over a decade the platform has grown from a single-station tool into a multi-station logistics network: per-branch PayBill credentials, OTP-authenticated rider apps, manifest-driven dispatch, station ledgers, and a Filament admin spanning agents, vehicles, expenses, and bank deposits. The system has carried the day-to-day rhythm of parcel sent → loaded → offloaded → received → issued through every Safaricom Daraja update, every new branch, every regulator change.
What we built
Concrete features that are in production today. No roadmap items.
Station hierarchy
Parent-child station tree with per-station ledger tracking. Every branch has its own books that roll up to the sacco.
Parcel lifecycle
Sent → loaded → offloaded → received → issued. Every state transition is logged, attributable, and reversible.
Per-station PayBills
Each branch ships its own M-Pesa shortcode and reconciles to its own ledger. No commingled collections.
OTP rider auth
Mobile API gated by phone-OTP with per-phone and per-IP rate limits. Sanctum tokens with 7-day expiry.
Bank deposit flow
Agents submit deposits; supervisors approve with a PIN. Throttled and audited end to end.
Queued SMS
Redis-backed jobs send delivery notifications, driver commissions, and overstayed-parcel reminders at scale.
