Dual-rail payments (M-Pesa STK plus Family Bank and Co-op Bank IPN), a PDA app for load and unload at every transit station, silent thermal-printer integration for in-vehicle receipts, and station-scoped Filament resources with soft-delete audit trails. In production since 2015.
The story
Raha Express runs the courier side of a same-day delivery business. Different customer expectations to 2NK, more complex routing, and senders and recipients who pay through different rails depending on which is convenient.
The platform supports three concurrent payment channels (M-Pesa STK, Family Bank IPN, Co-op Bank STK), a PDA app for riders to load and unload at every transit station, silent thermal-printer integration for in-vehicle receipts via a desktop Electron service, and multi-stop transit so a parcel can be offloaded at an intermediate hub and re-loaded on the next leg without losing its audit trail. In production since 2015.
What we built

Multi-stop transit
Offload and re-load mid-route without breaking the parcel's lifecycle. Every leg is recorded.
Vehicle manifests
Drivers record trip manifests with passenger list and route deductions, linked to the station ledger.
Three payment rails
M-Pesa STK Push, Family Bank IPN, Co-op Bank STK. Initiate-then-poll with throttling, idempotent callbacks.
Thermal receipts
Silent thermal-printer integration via an Electron desktop service. POS receipts print in-vehicle without operator action.
PDA companion app
Rider Flutter app for load/unload at every transit station, with delivery-note batching and offline tolerance.
PDF documents
On-demand delivery notes and trip manifests, generated server-side and pushable to print or email.
